Meet Archimedes (aka Arki) and Razzledazzle (aka Raz) a gorgeous pair of Aussie Doodles (Australian Shepperd and Poodle crosses) that I photographed on two separate occasions in my Toronto studio. When we first met these brothers, Arki was a 6 month old pup. He absolutely loved to play with big brother Raz. Like so many big brothers that have come before him, Raz couldn’t stand little Arki! When these two dogs were back again for their second round of portraits things had improved a little. Arki was a year old, and a little more mature. Raz still didn’t think much of Arki, but he had decided it was best to try to get along. I’m sure once Arki is a little older these brothers will be best friends.
Arki - “This photo shoot is so much fun!” Raz - “I can’t believe they are making me sit so close to that sorry excuse for a dog.”
Arki - Strutting his stuff
Raz - Lookin’ good!
Arki - “Yes, I finally got the ball!” Raz - “Stupid punk stole my football again!”
Arki - “I’m good at this modeling gig!” Arki - Yearbook Photo
Raz - “Finally got the camera to myself.”
As many of you know I have a very big spot in my heart for golden retrievers. My love of goldens started with Sunshine, my childhood dog. She was beautiful, loving, and lazy. When it was time for me to get my own dog I was drawn to the breed once again. Their easy disposition makes training a little simpler than some breeds and I wanted to be sure that my first dog was a good one! When searching for breeders I was referred to Barbara of Charis Registered Golden Retrievers, who is known for her commitment to breeding healthy (and oh so adorable!) dogs. My boy Sebastian has been an absolute joy. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph another one of Barbara’s dogs - José. He was just 12 weeks old when he came to the studio. He was a little tired from puppy class the night before, but he was so exited to play with Angus that we got some fabulous shots of him.
As promised, here are some more photographs of Sugarfoot and Bobby, my first pony subjects. Bobby was a bit nervous at first - he didn’t quite know what to make of his stable being turned into a photo studio! Sugarfoot on the other hand couldn’t get enough of the camera (or maybe it was his apple and carrot snacks). Bobby perked up when he saw all the attention that Sugarfoot was getting and we ended up with some great portraits of both of these gorgeous animals.
