What’s that spell?! A name that’s too long for a cheer.

Today on my illustrious blog, I’ll be featuring a returning client to the Jason KB studio by the name of ‘Charlie‘.

Now, when I heard that a dog named ‘Charlie‘ was coming by, I immediately started doing some push-ups and drank a protein shake, so that I could bulk-up before he got here. You know how it is with male dogs, right? We’ve always got to determine who’s top dog and who’s in charge. It’s all about feats of strength and running races and fighting over the best chew toy.

Well, it turns out I completely wasted my time, because this Charlie‘s a girl. Is it short for Charlene? Who knows. All I know is, I immediately fell in love when I set my eyes up this adorable bulldog and pug cross…..for the second time. Like I said, Charlie‘s been here before and even though Jason and Angus remembered this sweet little lady well, it was a surprise to me. Sebastian Fact : I have a bad memory.

Anyway, have a look through some photos of the cute Charlie below and as per usual, you can see even more photos on the Jason KB Photo facebook page.

Meet Stanley, a ball python snake.

My initial reaction to Stanley was to bark, spin in a circle, run out of the room, and then to quickly run back in to have another look. Suffice to say, I was a little surprised to see a snake at the studio.

Once I settled down though, I slowly inched my way closer to say hello to Stanley. Lucky for me, I had just finished reading the entire Harry Potter series (…..for the fourth time) and so I was completely refreshed and up-to-date on the habits and communication methods of snakes. When I say lucky, I mean really lucky because Stanley (who is actually a girl) turned out to be quite charming, sweet and gentle, and absolutely lovely to chat with. She was so sweet I felt the need to apologize for my reaction after first seeing her, but with a flick of her tail she hissed “It’s okay…..sss….” and all was forgiven. Turns out, it’s the hard knock life for a snake. Everyone’s always scared of them, no matter how sweet or friendly they are. Indiana Jones put it best when he said, “Snakes. Why’d it have to be snakes?”. Well I say, “Why not spiders instead? “. We can all agree that spiders are terrifying, so let’s be afraid of them instead, and leave the snakes alone.

Enjoy some photos of Stanley below, and don’t forget to check out the Jason KB Photo facebook page!

It’s the one, the only — SEBASTIAN!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a pampered <del>princess</del> dog? Always having perfectly coifed <del>hair</del> fur, neatly manicured paws and access to all the latest and greatest veterinary beauty treatments? You probably said ‘no’, but I definitely have wondered what that would be like, and thanks to a recent guest to the Jason KB studio, I got the chance to learn a little bit more about the luxurious lifestyle that I covet so much.

Meet Hank and Zero, dogs with a vet for an owner. Vet pets are universally acknowledged as the ‘lucky ones’ amongst the dogs of the world. They’ve got it made and they spend their time living the good life. I bet they don’t have to write blog posts for their owner’s photography studio in exchange for treats. Lucky.

However, in Hank and Zero’s defense, they were not in the least bit spoiled. Hank is the little puppy Boston terrier mix, and Zero is the sleek and beautiful greyhound-pit bull cross. Hank was extremely energetic and playful and tired me out after about five minutes of rousing ball-chasing. Zero is a much more demure lady and was very gentle and polite the entire time. It truly was a treat to have them at the studio.

Speaking of treats, Jason owes me one.

Enjoy some photos of Hank and Zero below. For even more photos of the this delightful duo, check out the Jason KB Photo facebook page.

Welcome back to Jason KB and the City!

Last time, we told you all about the Bloor West Village Animal Hospital and the lovely Jason KB art on display there. This week, it’s time to head to Trinity Bellwoods and The Dog Bowl.

The ravine in Trinity Bellwoods Park, also sometimes referred to as the dog bowl, plays home to an off-leash dog park that is super popular with residents and visitors alike. Just north of the park, across Dundas St. West, is where you’ll find The Dog Bowl.

The Dog Bowl carries a variety of natural pet products from leading eco-friendly North American- made brands. The Dog Bowl prides itself on being able to locally source as many of their products as possible and they’re happy to help you, and your pet, find just the right product. The Dog Bowl is fairly new to Trinity Bellwoods, so why not head on down to Trinity Bellwoods Park with your furry companion for a day of fun and sun and then stop by The Dog Bowl afterwards? Don’t forget to check out the Jason KB Photo art display while you’re shopping and be sure and say ‘Hi!’ from us!

Say ‘hello’ to one of the most unique Jason KB clients – Cod the thoroughbred racing horse!

Yeehaw!

Horses can be a little intimidating to a dog, on account of the size-difference and their powerful-kicking-and-possible-hoof-to-the-face capabilities. Once I got to know him though, Cod turned out to be one of the most mellow and friendly guys I’ve ever met. Turns out, Cod had all the makings of a champion race horse, but was just too lazy to win any races.

Helllllllllooo kindred spirit! Being great is great, but being lazy is fun. Cod and I bonded immediately over this life philosophy. He reminisced about the good ol’ days of not really trying to win races, and I told him about my writing “career” doing Jason’s blogs. Then we took a nap. Reminiscing is hard work.

If you’re wondering about the donkey, much like I was, it’s not because Cod is looking to audition for Shrek: The Musical. Turns out, in addition to being a champion horse that never won any races, Cod also doesn’t like to be alone, so Gigi the donkey goes everywhere with him. I smell a sitcom!

Enjoy some photos of the pair below. Check out them gams! For even more photos, be sure to head on over to the Jason KB Photo facebook page.

**APPLAUSE**APPLAUSE**

Thank you, thank you, ladies and gentlemen, cats and dogs and chew-toys of all ages.

Here’s a fun fact: Did you know that Hazel, the other Jason KB studio cat besides Walter, used to be an opera singer? No, really. In her day, she was the talk of the town and the bright lights of Broadway reflected in her eyes. That is, until Sarah Brightman beat her out for the lead in Phantom of the Opera. After that, her dreams were crushed and she left the world of music for life at Jason’s studio and never looked back. Nowadays, she takes it easy and all that’s left of her former musical glory days is her penchant for Broadway musicals. Morning, noon and night myself and the rest of the boys at the Jason KB studio are forced to listen to endless showtunes while Hazel <del>caterwauls</del> sings along.

Why am I telling you this?

Because the Jason KB studio recently found itself in our very own version of West Side Story. Tristan (the handsome poodle pictured below) is another studio dog. He and his proud mama, Toronto fashion photographer Nadia Cheema, stopped by the studio to have some photographs done awhile back.

I tell you, it was exactly like West Side Story, except without the music, dancing, girl to fight over and finger snapping….on account of the fact that dogs paws aren’t good for snapping.

You know what, on second thought, I may have actually slept through Tristan’s visit to the studio and just had a dream about West Side Story.

Things that make you go “Hmmmm,” amiright?

Anyway, enjoy some photos of Tristan below and have a look at his mom’s work at www.nadiac.com. As usual, you can find more photos of Tristan on the Jason KB Photo facebook page.

If dogs could put on accents I’d be <del>doing</del> trying to do an Australian one right now in honour of a recent guest to the Jason KB Photo studio named Audrey, a lovely Australian labradoodle.

This tender soul was an absolute delight to host at our studio. She was the epitome of calm, cool and collected, but that doesn’t mean she’s shy. She’s a confident and friendly lady who never says no to a ball or a chance to have a bit of fun. She and I had a good time playing with some tennis balls and she was well-behaved and sweet throughout her entire photo shoot. Her owner is definitely lucky to have her!

Take a second to check out some photos of this lovely lady below and don’t forget to visit the Jason KB Photo facebook page for even more photos.

Hello Jason KB fans! It’s that time of week again, so herrrrrrrrrrre’s Sebastian!

This week I will be <del>bashing away at the keyboard with my paws</del> waxing philosophically about the intricacies of big dog/little dog relationships. Case in point: Lola and Tommy.

Lola is the oh-so-ladylike poodle and Tommy is the spunky little Yorkshire terrier/pomeranian cross. Have you ever wondered just how us dogs are able to identify another animal as a dog, even though they may look totally and utterly different from us? Think chihuahua meets great dane. Strange, no? Even though they’re completely different, the chihuahua knows that massive great dane is another of its kind, and the great dane, if it can avoid stepping on it, knows the chihuahua is another dog, too. The jury is still out as to whether or not the great dane would think the chihuahua is a puppy, but the point is, us dogs aren’t phased by looks and size and this can help to explain why some of the greatest dog-friendships form between little dogs and big dogs.

When Lola and Tommy came by the studio, I was immediately intrigued by their size difference and so put on <del>Jason’s</del> my reading glasses, to make me look smarter while I sat and thought about it. Lola had lots of energy and Tommy had plenty of attitude, and they really made a great pair. In the end, I came to the conclusion that for a pair like Lola and Tommy, they don’t see another dog that looks vastly different from them, they just see a friend, despite their size. Everybody all together: “Awwwww!”

Enjoy some photos of Lola and Tommy below and don’t forget to check out their album on the Jason KB Photo facebook page for more great photos.

Sebastian out!
